Happy new year to all our readers.
2009 has been a tough year for Dubai, but there are signs that 2010 might be a year of stabilisation or even slight improvement for the troubled emirate – at least Abu Dhabi has finally stepped up to shore up some of Dubai’s debts now.

Inflation is a serious concern with any growing economy.
In Dubai years of strong economic growth have been accompanied by rising inflation rates – inflation rose by over eleven percent in both 2007 and 2008.

With all public celebrations in Dubai cancelled yesterday it was a quiet welcome to 2009 in the emirate, but hopefully the year will come in like a lamb and go out like a lion for Dubai.
