Internet in Dubai

Dubai is well served by high speed broadband connections, although there is regulation of internet content meaning that Israeli sites, adult sites, dating sites and some social networking sites are not directly accessible. Some people use proxy servers to get around this, but beware this is illegal and getting caught doing so could result in prosecution.

There is not much in the way of free wifi available, and people often complain about the speed and cost of internet access.

In 2001 the Dubai Municipality launched its e-Government project in Arabic and English with the intention of providing forty of its city services through its web portal. Thirteen services were accessible at launch with further services due to be added in the future.
