Gender and age in Dubai

Gender

The official 2006 census counted 1,073,000 males and 349,000 females in Dubai.

Going by these figures women would make up 33 percent of the population; in reality this figure is likely to be much lower as there are many more undeclared or transient male residents than there are female.

Age, birth rate and death rate

Dubai has a young population; the median age in Dubai in 2005 was 27 years.

The crude birth rate was 13.6 percent and the crude death rate was about one percent.
