The growing population of Dubai
The population of the metropolitan area of Dubai is 2,261,995, the largest population of all the emirates. For the sake of comparison, the population of the metropolitan area of London is 13,063,441.
The population density of Dubai is 408 people per square km (1,057 per square mile); London has a density of 4,761 people per square km (12,331 per square mile).
The last census of Dubai, conducted in 2006, put the population of the emirate at 1,422,000, which is significantly lower than most estimates.
Dubai’s population is expanding rapidly, has doubled in the last ten years alone, and will almost certainly more than double again in the next ten.
