Prostitution and the law
Prostitution is illegal yet rife in Dubai, partly because the economy of Dubai is mainly based on tourism and trade and partly because the population is overwhelming young and male.

Most of the prostitutes are from Russia, India, Ethiopia and other African countries.
As long as it is limited to clubs, it is believed that the authorities tolerate it, although more recently there have been signs that the Dubai Police Force is at least trying to deal with the problem of trafficked women.
